    CORRECTIONS - AMENDMENTS

    COVER

  • On the back cover, at the penultimate line of Michel Thevenot's resume, the name of the laboratory is wrong and should be altered into 'Laboratoire de Biogéographie et écologie des Vertébrés' (not 'Laboratoire d'Ecologie et de Biogéographie des Vertébrés').
  • On the inside front and back covers, the legend of the map on geographic divisions and subdivisions should have been the one with abridged names (which are used in the systematic list). Conversely, on the 'Figure 4 – Geographical divisions and subdivisions' page 13, the names of divisions and subdivisions should have been the full names (which are used in the introductory chapters).

    SYSTEMATIC LIST

  • Page 42, Great Northern Diver. In November 1986 at the Souss estuary, the Great Northern Diver was first found by B. Bland on 15, then subsequently seen by N. Redman on 20 Nov (B. Bland in litt.)
  • Page 69, Western Reef (Egret) Heron. The right Spanish name is Garceta dimorfa (not Garcetta dimorfa).
  • Page 72, Great White Egret. The record at the Smir estuary is Jan 1994 (MWC94) and not Jan 1995 (MWC95).
  • Page 91, (Greater) White-fronted Goose. Second line: the sentence referring to the record at Merzouga lake is to be completed as follow: single adult at Merzouga lake, 29-30 March 1987 (T. Gullick and I. Elosegui et al)
  • Page 93, Brent Goose. The record at Khnifiss lagoon, 3 May 1994, comes from Ph. Geniez & P. Soto in MRBC95 (instead of P. Geniez in GOMAC94). In addition, the record at Oualidia in 1992 is from 24 Jan to 1 Feb (instead of 4 Jan - 1 Feb), and concerns an immature bird.
  • Page 127, Short-toed Eagle is monotypic
  • Page 206, Jack Snipe. The scientific name Lymnocryptes minimus, should not be in bold.
  • Page 206, Long-billed Dowitcher. In November 1987 at the Souss estuary, the Long-billed Dowitcher was first recorded on 14 Nov, not on 16 (B. Bland in litt.)
  • Page 257, Little Tern. Under Breeding/Nesting data (third line) the sentence referring to Young is to be altered as follow : "Newly hatched young recorded at Skhirat from late May (not from mid May !) to early Aug (Beaubrun 1981)..."
  • Page 302, (European) Bee-eater is monotypic
  • Page 310 last line, the heading 'Breeding' should appear at the beginning of the following page (i.e. page 311)
  • Page 338, White/Pied Wagtail. Read yarrellii instead of yarrelli
  • Page 365, (Common) Blackbird. Read mauretanicus instead of mauritanicus
  • Pages 404 and 462, Wallcreeper. Read Treparriscos instead of Traparriscos
  • Page 409, Southern Grey Shrike. Second line on top of the page, read (L. m. meridionalis ?) instead of (L. e. meridionalis ?)

    COLOUR PLATES

  • Plate 20, caption: alter Jel Ayachi into Jbel Ayachi

APPENDIX 2 - List of ommitted species

  • The record of Least Bittern (Ixobrychus exilis - Petit Blongios) must be removed from Appendix 2 following the information passed by N.H. Lorentzen (in litt. 3 Feb 2004). It was just a matter of confusion in names, and the bird seen by A.H. Qvale at Massa on 26 March 1988 was a Little Bittern (I. minutus). There is no Moroccan record of Least Bittern.

    APPENDIX 4 - Gazetteer

  • Page 511, under Waougoulzat, Jbel Central High Atlas (VI.3), the correct latitude is 31°37'N, not 34°37'N. The longitude is right.
